Any content that could be considered disrespectful or offensive
We encourage messages that celebrate birthdays, accomplishments, school spirit, and other positive occasions. All wording, artwork, and symbols should reflect the welcoming and inclusive values of our Antelope Ridge community.
The Spirit Rock is maintained through the courtesy and cooperation of our families. We appreciate everyone doing their part to respect these guidelines and help keep this tradition enjoyable for all.
Spirit Rock reservations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. To increase your chances of getting the date you want, we encourage you to reserve as early as possible.
Each Spirit Rock reservation begins at 4:00 PM on the day before your selected date and ends at 3:59 PM on your reserved date. For example, if your reservation is for Tuesday, you may begin painting the rock anytime after 4:00 PM on Monday.
If you're unable to paint the rock during your reserved time due to a scheduling conflict or other circumstance, we encourage you to arrange a date swap with another Antelope Ridge family if possible.
Please note that reservation fees are non-refundable, so be sure to mark your reservation on your calendar to avoid missing your time slot!
If no one has reserved the Spirit Rock immediately after your reservation, your artwork may remain on display for additional days until the next scheduled reservation.
If bad weather prevents you from painting the Spirit Rock during your reserved time, please contact the Antelope Ridge Spirit Rock at anrspiritrock@gmail.com to request the next available reservation date. Requests can only be accommodated if we are notified.
Please note that all available reservation dates are displayed on the calendar and existing reservations will not be adjusted or moved.
Families are responsible for providing all paint, supplies, and labor needed to decorate the Spirit Rock. You may paint the rock yourself or have someone else complete it on your behalf.
Spray paint is not permitted on school grounds in accordance with school administration policies.
Use standard latex or water-based acrylic paint only. Please do not use oil-based paints, spray paint, puffy paint, glue, chemicals, or any other materials that may damage the rock or surrounding area.
Paint the Spirit Rock ONLY. Sidewalks, curbs, lamp posts, fences, buildings, landscaping, and any other school property must not be painted or marked.
Families are responsible for any damage caused to school property while decorating the Spirit Rock. Any costs associated with cleaning, repairs, or restoring surrounding areas may be the responsibility of the reserving family.
By participating, families accept responsibility for their group while painting the Spirit Rock. The Antelope Ridge PTCO and school are not liable for any injuries, accidents, or damage to personal belongings, including clothing, that may occur during the decorating process.
To make decorating your Spirit Rock a success, we recommend bringing the following items:
Exterior latex paint for the background (approximately 1–2 quarts). A quality paint with good coverage works best for covering the previous design.
A paint roller or large brush to apply the background color. Depending on the paint, you may need more than one coat and some drying time before adding your design.
Water-based acrylic or latex paint in additional colors for your lettering and artwork. For the best visibility, choose contrasting colors (for example, light lettering on a dark background or dark lettering on a light background).
Small paint brushes or foam brushes for details, lettering, and designs.
Sidewalk chalk to lightly sketch your message before painting.
A drop cloth or plastic tarp to protect nearby sidewalks and curbs from paint splatters.
Bring your own water. Water is not available on campus for rinsing brushes or rollers. We recommend bringing a bucket and a gallon of water from home for cleanup.
Pick up everything you bring. Please bring a trash bag to collect all supplies and dispose of them at home.
Do not leave paint cans, brushes, or other materials on campus. Paint cans and other painting supplies should not be placed in school trash cans or dumpsters. Please dispose of all materials properly off school property.
